Magic always inspires people. Something about rewriting the underpinning rules of your reality, with little more than force of will and a handful of stones, makes people reach for lofty goals. In Fellhollow it was the wizard Falistrius that wanted to make a name for themselves.
They wanted to be a magical scholar. A researching who might uncover the secrets of the universe itself. They sought spells of greater and greater power, dabbling in mysteries both profane and forbidden, and came up empty handed.
