The children of darkness were very fond of steel daggers. They were powerful, dangerous and very expensive at the time, making them the perfect ritual tool to demonstrate their adoration of the god of chaos.
Mostly the offspring of wealthy families, the rituals of the Children were performed out of boredom more than religious fervour. They would gather at secret meetings and proudly display their elaborately carved daggers, trying to prove to each other who was the most devoted to the lord of darkness by way of expensive kitchenware.
If you asked any of them to use such a blade in battle, they would be more inclined to slit their own throats in fear, rather than mutilate their opponents.
